It is with bittersweet sentiments that we present the collaboration between Illesteva and the recently departed icon Lou Reed. We received these shades just prior to Reed’s untimely passing and were a bit conflicted how to proceed. As longtime fans of Reed, and given the fact that he was so involved in every detail that went into the design of these sunglasses, we felt it would be a disservice not to release them to the public as he intended.
Originator, poet, and rock star are just a few of the phrases used to describe native New Yorker Lou Reed — Founder and pioneering front man of the rock band The Velvet Underground and undoubtedly one of the most influential musicians of all-time.
New York based Illesteva couldn’t have asked for a better individual to work with, and as Daniel Silberman (Illesteva founder) phrases it, Reed was a “dream collaborator.”
Throughout his career, Reed was an avid sunglass wearer always sporting a pair of signature shades, so it was with joy that he helped to create his own. The “Lou Reed for Illesteva” capsule collection features two timeless styles, an acetate frame and a metal aviator. Handmade in Italy, each design is available in an assortment of colors ranging from the classic to those with colored mirrored lenses.

Ksubi Eyewear’s Summer 2013 collection is now available.
Australian based, Ksubi has long been one of our favorite labels here at Eyegoodies. They never fail to demonstrate their ability to depart from conformity and create collections which are concise and always original— as in the case with their latest summer 2013 offering.
The range takes its cues from their ready-to-wear collection which highlights “religion, royalty, and old world luxury”. However in true Ksubi fashion this is translated with a fresh fashion forward pulse. The collection includes a diverse assortment of one of a kind styles, such as the appropriately named ‘BATCAT’, a twist on a cat-eye design where the ends are shaped like a bat’s wings. Or the ‘Lacerta’, a variation of the same shape which features translucent cut-outs. Fan favorites such as the ‘CISCO’ and ‘ARA’ sunglasses return, but this time are set off with high shine gold metal or gold mirrored lenses.

The Mosley Tribes Spring/Summer 2013 collection gives us an assortment of contemporary classics.
The range takes influence from a variety of era’s — From modified cable temples inspired by the vintage motorcycling styles of the 1940’s to their take on the classic 60’s wayfarer. With that being said, nothing is overly nostalgic; due in part to the modern color palette and cutting edge lenses everything feels right at home in 2013.

New for spring 2013, the iconic Ray Ban Aviator RB 3025 sunglasses get a splash of color in the form of full-on colored mirror lenses.
Mirrored lenses reduce glare while retaining contrast, perfect for driving, days on the ocean, or to simply block those envious on-lookers. Also worth noting, the mirrored lenses give off slightly different hues depending the angle the light catches it, for example the green becomes aqua/ green.
Available in 3 vibrant mirror colors, each with matte gold frame: Blue Mirror, “Sunset” Mirror, and Agua Green Mirror.

Back in black with a powder coat finish, the ‘SPEEDWAY T’ sunglasses.
The Garrett Leight “Speedway with Top Bar” is an aviator which was specifically inspired by a frame worn by gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson in the late 1960’s and worn consistently through the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. Originally introduced in Garrett Leight’s first season, it returns in the Resort collection with a new limited edition powder-coat color treatment. The powder-coated finish gives the metal a matte appearance, as well as durability from the elements.
Available in two colors, our favorite being the Black on Black on Black, that is: black powder-coated metal, black acetate accents, and black lenses, for a clean and modern look. For the more traditionalist, it is also available in a powder-coat silver, with “Honey” accents and brown gradient lenses.

Ray Ban releases an innovative utilitarian take on its iconic Ray Ban aviator, the Folding Aviator RB 3479.
The Ray Ban Folding Aviator sunglasses are the same exact classic proportions as the original RB 3025. But has hinges discreetly placed on the bridge and temples which allows it to fold down neatly into a compact case– perfect for easy storage and transport.
They feature Ray Ban’s signature mineral glass lenses which are known for their crisp optics as well as being tough to scratch. Available in 5 frame/lens combos, including both polarized and non-polarized lens options.

Michael Bastian once again teams up with Randolph Engineering for a special collection of sunglasses.
American Eyewear brand Randolph Engineering, who has been making classic shades for over four decades, gets a fashion boost from American menswear designer Michael Bastian.
Michael Bastian, known for his clean American-prep styling, puts a twist on several pieces from the Randolph archives, as well as helps create a few completely new designs. From frames with clip-on lenses inspired by James Dean to a squared off masculine 70’s inspired design, there is no shortage of inventiveness in the collection which features both metal and acetate sunglasses and eyeglasses.

The new YSL 2340/S sunglasses are a great example of a designer piece with distinct detailing. It is a unisex pilot design given a modern feel through its contoured shape and use of signature metal details throughout. The Mosley Tribes Summer 2012 collection is now available.
This season Mosley Tribes is paying tribute to the City of Angels, Los Angeles California, home of their headquarters as well as a continual source of their inspiration.
“GROWING UP in Los Angeles has given me an appreciation for the city and the many cultures that live within it. I am constantly inspired by what is going on around me in the diverse and vibrant landscape. This environment – from street art to high fashion, active lifestyle to music culture – drives my creativity and ultimately influences the designs that I create.”

Although styles and trends frequently change in Los Angeles the new releases this season are both unique and timeless — translating for any style and any local, whether the city streets or the beach. The collection features an array of classic metal and acetate frames, from the clean all plastic unisex “Stafford” to the vintage inspired squared off “Cayton” aviator (our favorites). Each piece boasts premier mineral glass lenses providing superb optics, with polarized, photochromic, as well as anti-reflective coated lens options.

Ksubi eyewear’s 2012 “WAR” collection is now available.
The collection, fittingly entitled “WAR”, is by far our favorite Ksubi offering to date. There’s a fresh modern aesthetic created which is both raw and refined. It effortlessly fuses ideas and techniques from classic steam punk, traditional biker, fashion, street and sports.

Graz Eyewear 2012 collection is now available.
Always original, constantly evolving, and perfecting his craft, Graz creates a variety of modern day classics for 2012. The new collection shows great expanded range. We see chunky avant-garde frames such as the “General Idea“, pieces sharp enough for a black tie event (the “Otis“), as well as subtly redefined classics like the “Stray” series.
There’s a great use of geometric shape and crisp clean lines, from round to square to even octagon. The range flawlessly utilizes a host of colors, textures, and materials. It is encompassed with rich acetates and one of a kind matte finishes in unique colors like matte root beer or bottle, frames made of metal (stainless steel or titanium), as well as several great metal and acetate combination styles.
