Ksubi Eyewear 2012 | Ad Astra Per Aspera

Ksubi Eyewear 2012
The latest 2012 Ksubi Eyewear collection entitled “Ad Asrtra Per Aspera”, is now in stock.

“Ad Astra Per Aspera” (Latin for: from hardships to the stars) is the motto.  Always looking forward, pushing boundaries, and dreaming big, it is fitting that Ksubi chose it as the title for their new collection.

The new range and campaign “is based on paranoid alien obsessed fanatics and their anarchistic lab nerd style”. Fashion forward, sophisticated, and very wearable the collection heralds inspiration from the 1950’s to the 1990’s and beyond.  Everything from cat-eye shapes, to rimless, to outlined frames in translucent acetates, are completely reimagined in true Ksubi form.

The latest look book, shot by Kane Skennar, imaginatively and playfully blends a bit of out of this world crazy with an underlying geek chic sophistication, check it out below.

Cutler and Gross Eyewear | SS 2011, The Mermaid and the Officer

Cutler and Gross Sunglasses

Eyegoodies is proud to welcome to the site one of our all time favorite brands, Cutler and Gross.  Supply Limited.

Cutler and Gross was founded in 1969 by Graham Cutler and Tony Gross who opened their optical boutique in Knightsbridge London stocking handmade bespoke frames. Since their inception, their one of a kind luxury eyewear was an instant success and an integral part in forever shaping the landscape of the industry.  Other brands often try to imitate and take inspiration from Cutler and Gross, but there is nothing quite like the real thing; A difference which can not only be seen, but a quality which can be felt.

Cutler and Gross is not about being overly complicated.  You will find no obnoxious branding or logo’s on the outside of their frames, yet they capture your eye with a “quiet elegance, and a firm and graceful classicism”.  The brand adheres to the same principles today as it has for over four decades, and for which it is globally renowned: unsurpassed quality and timeless aesthetics.

While most designer frames are mass produced using flimsy injection molding techniques, the manufacturing process that Cutler and Gross employs is both expensive and time consuming; there are no short-cuts taken and no detail over looked.

Cutler and Gross Eyeglasses

“The Cutler and Gross frames are cut from sheets of acetate and then the rough cut goes into a polishing process where we first tumble the frame fronts and temples in a wood barrel for 3-4 days with resin chips and olive oil. The tumbling smoothes the surface of the frames and prepares for the hand polishing, without removing too much of the sharpness of the frame. Every hole is hand drilled and the pins and hinges are screwed by hand, no glue is used in the frame building process that takes 3 weeks.”

This manufacturing process has become a lost art today.  A pair of Cutler and Gross sunglasses or eyeglasses is made to last a lifetime, “The real McCoy” not just another designer decoy.

SUPER Black Briar Sunglasses | Summer 2011

SUPER Black Briar Sunglasses

The lastest summer drop from SUPER sunglasses is now in stock.  Along with a much needed replenishment of  staple pieces such as the Black Flat Tops, there are some great new additions to the line.

Here we highlight one of our favorites, the “Black Briar” series.

The Black Briar is an ode to the classic luxury styling of the 1970’s. The front of the sunglasses have shiny black acetate while each of the temples feature panel in “Briar”. The Briar effect is created using a rich acetate, giving the same smooth, glossy appearance of radica as was used in luxury cars.  While the Black Briar series may heavily invoke the 70’s, they transcend era’s, making them a timeless classic in SUPER history.

The Black Briar is available several of Super’s signature models: Flat Top, Basic Shape, People, Andrea, and W; Shown Below.

Karen Walker Hearts UV Sunglasses 2011

Karen Walker Sunglasses 2011 Hearts UV

The entire new 2011 Karen Walker “KW HEARTS UV” eyewear Collection is now in stock.

We are huge fans of Karen Walker Eyewear here at Eyegoodies and are very pleased to present to you the latest 2011 “KW HEARTS UV” collection and campaign.  This season Karen Walker  does it again, with a range of new frames that are refreshingly original, fashion forward, and very wearable.

Seven great new styles are introduced to the collection in a wide variety of stunning colors: from classic tones such as “crazy tortoise” and black, to bright eye-catching semi-translucent candy colors such as orange and fuschia. Also we are glad to see the “Number One” model, last years break out hit, updated this season in very unique two tone color options: black with crystal yellow, brown with crystal orange, and purple with crystal green.

If pressed to pick a favorite, at the moment it would have to be the “Perfect Day”. In the same spirit as the all popular “Number One” frame, the Perfect Day is a feminine and slightly oversized cat-eye shape with great proportions that tends to fit almost all faces extremely well.

Previous season’s campaigns brought us frames modeled on Vampires then Egyptian Gods, now she shields even the most sun-sensitive albino’s; While they might usually try to avoid the sun, they can’t wait to sport their new Karen Walker shades and we can’t blame them! Checkout the new collection, paired with the campaign imagery below.
