Oliver Goldsmith, founded in London in 1926, didn’t invent sunglasses — but they did make them a fashion accessory. Their signature sunglasses have adorned nearly every major celebrity and style icon from the 50’s onward. Think 20th Century icons such as: Michael Caine, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren, Jackie O, and the list goes on. Today, the legacy set forth way back then is continued through Oliver’s great-granddaughter Claire Goldsmith. The same quality, craftsmanship, and pride in handmade eyewear — One of kind sunglasses that speak not through obnoxious logos, but by the beauty, individuality, and personality in their designs.
The Oliver Goldsmith Consul (1959) was named after the Ford Consul car that was made in Britain and launched between 1951 and 1962. A quintessential and timeless wayfarer design, the Consul features thick and chunky Italian acetate, real hand drilled riveted hinges with exposed circular pins, and offers an exceptionally nice fit for most faces. It is available here in classic black with dark grey lenses.
